Join Michelle and physical therapist Rachel Butler for a series of 3 workshops to demystify pelvic floor health and incorporate newfound knowledge into yoga practice.
The “pelvic floor” has become a hot topic, but a lot of the general population don’t know what it is or how it affects their lives unless they have had a negative experience of symptoms associated with it. Incorporating pelvic floor awareness and strengthening into regular yoga practice can help you avoid developing symptoms of dysfunction such as incontinence and pain as well as add to the quality of your regular yoga practice.
Over 3 sessions of experiential workshops, you will learn about:
Rachel Butler, PT, DPT
Dr. Rachel Butler is a women’s health physical therapist with over 17 years of experience evaluating and treating patients with pelvic floor dysfunction of all kinds. She is passionate about providing a calm, peaceful environment in which to validate the patient and her experience, giving hope for resolution of symptoms and a better life, and getting creative along the way. After a life-changing experience studying yoga for depression and anxiety, she pursued a 200-hour yoga teacher training program and incorporates breathwork and asana into her physical therapy practice and her own life. She returned to western NC in 2022 after a long hiatus since meeting her partner while working at a local summer camp. She moved her clinical practice to Black Mountain; more info can be found at www.rachelbutlerdpt.com.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels: students new to yoga, those looking to further advance their practice, and yoga teachers who want to learn how/when to cue the pelvic floor. 4 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education contact hours available upon completion.
